Tuthill Corporation (Burr Ridge, IL) is a Top 1% Industrial company with a 120-year history of engineering and innovation. As a global manufacturer of industrial goods, Tuthill specializes in rotating equipment such as pumps and meters. Tuthill products move and measure everything from heavy oils to motor fuels, from tomato paste to process gasses, to standard pressures and deep vacuums.

The Challenge

Tuthill had been using their current small parcel carrier for years, trusting that they were getting the most competitive market rates from that carrier. However, as a value-minded company, they were on the lookout for cost savings and were considering conducting a full vendor evaluation with an industry expert to determine if their parcel situation was truly optimized and competitive in the market. After researching potential vendors, Tuthill chose Motus to evaluate their current parcel carrier’s pricing and processes.

Our Solution

Motus conducted an initial analysis, free of charge. After a thorough review of the situation, ISS determined there was an opportunity to optimize parcel pricing and processes. Motus initiated negotiations with the appropriate carriers in the industry, and within weeks, Motus was able to provide Tuthill with over 39% increase in incentives savings – and an overall reduction in small parcel annual cost of over 11.9%.

Motus also realized huge savings with their incumbent small parcel carrier, by addressing high-impact service level incentives and accessorial surcharges.

The agreement provided a turnkey solution that saved time and resources, allowing Tuthill to simply sign the newly negotiated agreement for immediate savings – with no change to their operations.

Motus continues to monitor and review Tuthill’s carrier invoices to ensure they’re getting the most of their carrier agreement and are not incurring unnecessary surcharges.

Motus also continues to keep an eye on the bottom-line by helping Tuthill eliminate (corporate wide) costly early morning overnight service, as well as assisting with the enforcement of supplier/vendor compliance of this new corporate policy.
